§ 19. Mr. Michael Morrisasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what monitoring he intends to carry out to ensure that regional health authorities equitably distribute resources between area health authorities.
§ Dr. VaughanWe are awaiting the report of the Royal Commission on the National Health Service before considering any changes in the present system of monitoring. Meanwhile regional health authorities' annual planning reports provide us with information on the allocation of resources to area health authorities.
§ 24. Mr. Viggersasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he proposes to make any changes in the allocation of resources within the National Health Service by increasing the priority given to mental health care.
§ Mr. Patrick JenkinThe distribution of NHS resources locally between services for different groups of patients is primarily a matter for health authorities, but in giving a general lead on national priorities, I have indicated that I regard mental health care as such a priority.
