Sir Nigel Fisherasked the Prime Minister whether, in view of the low poll for the EEC elections in England, Scotland and Wales, as compared with the much higher poll in Northern Ireland, she will seek to ensure that the next elections for the European Assembly are held under a system of proportional 104W representation throughout the United Kingdom.
§ The Prime MinisterThe Government will play their full part in the preparation of a common electoral system for the European Assembly under article 138(3) of the Treaty of Rome. It remains to be seen whether these discussions will be completed by 1984.
