§ Mr. Peter Millsasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he has received the report on the LD50 test from his advisory committee on the administration of the Cruelty to Animals Act 1876; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. WhitelawThe report reached me last month. I have placed a copy in the Library. Copies will be sent to all who gave evidence to the committee, and others known to have an interest, and to authorities responsible for the registered places where experiments are carried out. I should like to record my appreciation of the work of the committee in this investigation and in particular my thanks to the chairman, Lord Cross of Chelsea. I accept the committee's recommendations in principle and am considering how they can most effectively be implemented with the resources available.
