§ Mr. Spenceasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will take action to recover for agricultural use the 3,000 acres of agricultural land claimed to have been lost due to flooding as a result of raising the height of the barrage on the River Derwent downstream of Sutton on Derwent; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. WigginThe Yorkshire water authority is responsible for operating the barrage in accordance with the statutory provisions. I understand that the authority has recently completed a study of the land drainage problems referred to by my hon. Friend and is consulting the various interests involved.
