§ Mr. Tilleyasked the Secretary of State for Health and Social Security when he expects to announce the results of the April 1979 test census and the final form of questions for the 1981 census.
§ Mr. Patrick JenkinThe main purpose of the April 1979 test census was to improve census methods, and there are no plans to publish the results. However, it is expected that a report on the wording of the ethnic question will be published in the autumn.
Topics for the 1981 census will subsequently be given in an Order in Council, and the precise form of the questions will be set out in the census regulations.
