Mr. Michael McGuire

asked the Secretary of State for Trade what estimate he has made of the annual number of visitors to the United Kingdom who either hire or bring their own cars and of the retail value of the petrol they buy.

It is estimated that about 0.6 million cars accompanied foreign visitors to the United Kingdom on the sea routes from Western Europe, excluding the Irish Republic, in 1978. The other information requested is not available.
