§ Mr. RifkindBy September.
§ Mr. Foulkesasked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether, further to his reply to the question of the hon. Member for South Ayrshire on 13 June, he will extend the terms of reference of the public inquiry into the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority's appeal against the decision of Kyle and Carrick district council, to enable it to consider the wider issues raised by the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority nuclear dumping investigation proposals.
§ Mr. RifkindNo. The appeal must be related to the terms of the UKAEA's original planning application. This, as explained in my reply of 13 June, was for geological research. Completely separate planning procedures would be required for any work involving the disposal of radioactive waste.
§ Mr. Foulkesasked the Secretary of State for Scotland with reference to the reply to the question of the hon. Member for South Ayrshire of 13 June, he will give details of the other sites which have been discussed openly with local interests; and when it will be possible to say which of them may be selected for further study.
§ Mr. RifkindThis is a matter for the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority, which I have asked to write to the hon. Member.
