HC Deb 18 June 1979 vol 968 c381W
Mr. Colvin

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he is considering any amendment to existing legislation to regularise the present unsatisfactory situation which allows itinerant pirate trading to nourish, in order to back up the enforcement action which can already be taken by local authorities to curb abuses and violations of statutes such as the Shops Act 1950.

Mr. Whitelaw

I have at present no proposals for amending the Shops Act 1950 or other relevant legislation within my sphere of responsibility.
