HC Deb 18 June 1979 vol 968 c372W
Mr. Hooley

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what route will be taken by ships carrying Japanese nuclear waste from Windscale back to Japan; what will be the ports of call; and whether they have been agreed with the countries concerned.

Mr. Norman Lamont

I am advised by BNFL that there is no likelihood of nuclear waste being returned to Japan from Windscale before the mid-1990s. The question of the ports to be used and of approaches to the authorities concerned will be considered at the appropriate time.
