HC Deb 18 June 1979 vol 968 cc378-9W
Mr. Hooley

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what steps are taken to ensure that national minimum standards of fire regulations are applied consistently throughout the country by the fire services and local authorities.

Mr. Brittan

In the case of premises liable to certification under the Fire Precautions Act 1971, guides specific to each class of occupancy concerned are published by the Government to help fire authorities achieve reasonably uniform standards of requirements, subject to the particular needs of individual premises. In the case of other premises to which regulations apply, guidance is also issued as necessary to bring about a common basis of interpretation and implementation.
