HC Deb 18 June 1979 vol 968 c386W
Mr. Steen

asked the Secretary of State for Industry how many advance factories have been built in partnership areas with Government or local government financial help and at what cost; whether each such factory is now being fully utilised; what were the names of the companies concerned; and, in each case, whether the company was already operating in the partnership area prior to its move to the new advance factory.

Mr. David Mitchell

The Department of Industry is responsible only for the provision of Government factories in the assisted areas of England. In the partnership areas of Liverpool and Newcastle-upon-Tyne/Gateshead, the English Industrial Estates Corporation has completed 22 factory units at an estimated construction cost of £1.3 million. None has yet been occupied.
