§ Mr. Nicholas Wintertonasked the Secretary of State for Trade if he will make a statement of the current position relating to the surveillance of textile imports; and whether surveillance procedures in other EEC countries are as effective as the system in the United Kingdom.
§ Mr. ParkinsonThe enforcement of MFA quotas and the terms of issue of surveillance licences are subject to a common regime applicable to all member States of the EEC. It is however likely that, as a result of recent industrial disputes, the monitoring of import statistics has in recent months been less effective in the United Kingdom than in the rest of the Community.
