HC Deb 11 June 1979 vol 968 c14W
Mr. Best

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he plans to introduce legislation to ensure that members of the Territorial and Auxiliary Volunteer Reserve are given time off work in order to attend annual camp in addition to normal holidays granted by employers.

Mr. Hayhoe

No. I am confident that this matter is best approached by securing the voluntary co-operation of employers, and I know that this is also the view of the council of TAVR associations. To this end every opportunity will be taken to emphasise the vitally important role that the TAVR has to play in the successful execution of our defence policy and to encourage the release of volunteers for training.
