§ Mr. Spearingasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will tabulate in the Official Report for each local education authority where one or more maintained grammar schools now exist (a) the secondary school population in that authority in the current year and projected for 1984, (b) the number of secondary schools in that authority that are grammar, comprehensive, showing middle and upper schools separately where appropriate, technical, modern or other schools respectively, and (c) state the total number of pupils in attendance in each category in the current year, the figure also to be expressed as a percentage of the total secondary school population.
§ Dr. BoysonAn excessive amount of space in theOfficial Report would be taken up tabulating the information requested. I have, therefore, written to the hon. Member giving him that information which is readily available and can be provided without incurring a disproportionate cost.
