HC Deb 11 June 1979 vol 968 c106W
Mr. Dickens

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if, pursuant to the policy of promoting equal opportunity for both sexes, he will bring forward proposals progressively to reduce the retirement age for men to 60 years.

Mr. Prentice

A reduction in the pension age for men would involve considerable additional expenditure. In the present economic situation, my right hon. Friend has no proposals to this end.
