HC Deb 11 June 1979 vol 968 c55W
Mr. McCrindle

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he is satisfied with the provision of adequate sites for gipsies by local authorities; if he plans any changes in existing legislation on the matter; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Monro

We are certainly not satisfied about the current level of gipsy caravan site provision and we are now considering the most appropriate ways of giving a greater impetus to the efforts of local authorities, as recommended in the Cripps report, including the possibility of introducing changes in the legislation.
