§ Mr. McQuarrieasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will visit the fish processing factories in East Aberdeenshire, in view of the continued threat to employment and the very existence of these factories due to the shortage of supplies and the high prices paid for such stocks as are available.
§ Mr. YoungerI have at present no plans to do so but, as I indicated to my hon. Friend on 23 May—[Vol. 967, c.149]—the position of the industry is being kept under review. In response to a request from the Herring Buyers' Association, my noble Friend the Minister of State, Scottish Office, and my hon. Friend the Minister of State, Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food will meet the association's representatives on 26 June, when these matters will no doubt be discussed.
