asked the Minister for the Civil Service whether civil servants' trade union subscriptions are automatically deducted from pay along with tax and national insurance contributions; and what collection charge is levied on the respective trade unions for this service.

Civil servants who are members of recognised trade unions may authorise regular deduction of union subscriptions from pay. No charge is made for this service.
