The Pneumoconiosis etc. (Workers' Compensation) Act 1979 came into force only on 4 July. As I explained in a written reply to my hon. Friend the Member for Anglesey (Mr. Best) on 4 July, whilst claims may now be made, draft regulations prescribing the amount of payments will be laid before the House immediately after the recess.
