HC Deb 27 July 1979 vol 971 c534W
Mr. John Fraser

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether, in view of recent disclosures that information was supplied from the Metropolitan Police computer to unauthorised persons in the gaming industry, he will institute an inquiry to safeguard access to the computer to any unauthorised persons including policemen.

Dr. Edmund Marshall

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what action he is taking to ensure that information held on the police national computer is not in future misused in the way it was recently in events concerning casinos run by the Ladbroke group.

Mr. Whitelaw

As I stated in my reply on 20 July to a question by the hon. Member for Goole (Dr. Marshall), safeguards are kept under review. As part of the normal review processes, I have asked the chief officer of police concerned for a report on this particular matter.
