§ Mr. Adleyasked the Secretary of State for Trade if he will indicate for each of the 52 weeks of the latest convenient 12-month period the percentage capacity to which (a) Heathrow and (b) Gatwick were operating.
§ Mr. TebbitThe calculation of airport capacity at Heathrow and Gatwick is a matter for the British Airports Authority. It needs to be based on the hourly traffic flows using the runways, aprons and terminals, in order to take account of peak periods, which are critical in defining the degree to which a particular facility is used. A weekly percentage would not therefore be relevant.
