Mr. Cryer

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what is the current unemployment level of the Keighley employment office area and that for Shipley and Bingley employment office area.

Mr. Jim Lester

At 12 July the provisional numbers of people registered as unemployed in the Keighley, Shipley and Bingley employment office areas were 1,269, 770, and 210 respectively.

Mr. Cryer

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what is the total number of jobs supported by temporary employment subsidy in the Keighley employment office area on a current and cumulative basis.

Mr. Jim Lester

On 25 July 122 jobs were being supported in the Keighley employment office area with the assistance of the temporary employment subsidy. By the same date 1,834 jobs had been supported under the scheme since its inception on 18 August 1975.
