Dr. Boyson

I shall write to my hon. Friend.

Mr. Greenway

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many pieces of educational equipment are out of use at present pending repair deemed necessary under the terms of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act.

Dr. Boyson

This information is not available.

Mr. Greenway

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will seek to amend the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act so as to exempt educational establishments from its applications.

Dr. Boyson

No. My right hon. and learned Friend believes it is right that staff and pupils in educational establishments should have the same protection as other people covered by health and safety legislation.
