HC Deb 27 July 1979 vol 971 c648W
Mr. Budgen

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he has reviewed the operation of his Department's shop in Parliament Street; and whether he will make a statement.

Mr. Monro

The Department of Environment shop is about to be closed. Since it opened in 1971, accumulated losses are estimated to be £22,000, which have been only partially offset by a surplus of £9,000 in Jubilee Year.

The staff concerned are being invited to fill vacancies at either Hampton Court or the Tower of London.
