HC Deb 27 July 1979 vol 971 cc524-5W
Mr. Homewood

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether, in view of the unemployment level in Corby, Northants, and the threat of closure of the iron and steel works, the cut in the provision for further education in Corby which has resulted in severe cuts in training places in the local technical college can be reviewed.

Dr. Boyson

As the Government have made clear in a circular to local authorities about expenditure in 1979–80, it is for them to decide on priorities within and between services. Accordingly, it is for the Northamptonshire local education authority to decide on the level of provision for further education in Corby.
