HC Deb 27 July 1979 vol 971 cc687-8W
Mrs. Ann Taylor

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many people have been affected by the delays in the issuing of child benefit books from the central issuing office; and what steps he is taking to resolve the situation and ensure no further delays occur.

Mrs. Chalker

It is not possible to determine without disproportionate time and expense how many people have been affected by the delays in issuing child benefit books from the child benefit centre, Washington. 280,000 renewal Allowance Regulations 1979, S.I., 1979 No. 172; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Prentice

I have no plans to extend the scope of the mobility allowance scheme. Further developments in the help given to disabled people are dependent on the strength of the economy.
