§ Mr. Bidwellasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what number of persons were injured by shooting by London's police respectively in 1976, 1977 and 1978 and the first six months of the current year.
§ Mr. BrittanOne person was shot and killed by the police in London in 1978. No other injuries are known to have resulted from such shooting in the period in question.
§ Mr. Bidwellasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he is satisfied with police training in the use of firearms so as to avoid the risk of injuring or killing innocent bystanders, including children.
§ Mr. BrittanFirearms training is an operational matter for individual chief officers of police. I am advised that officers carrying guns are trained to assess the risks to the public.
