HC Deb 26 July 1979 vol 971 c367W
Mr. Campbell-Savours

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what will be the effects of the education cuts announced in the Budget Statement on the provision of nursery education in Lancaster.

Dr. Boyson

The allocation made to the Lancashire LEA under the 1979–80 nursery education building programme was reduced from £178,200 to £113,000 following the Budget Statement. With regard to recurrent expenditure, the distribution of the resources made available to a local authority through the rate support grant between the different services it provides and the priority given to particular elements of each service is wholly at the discretion of the authority. Decisions on the future of nursery education in Lancaster are, therefore, entirely for the Lancashire LEA.
