HC Deb 26 July 1979 vol 971 c351W
42. Mr. Thomas Cox

asked the Attorney-General if he is satisfied with the opportunities available for ordinary people to obtain legal advice in all circumstances.

The Solicitor-General

The legal advice and assistance scheme is available to persons of small or moderate means. The financial limits for the scheme were raised substantially earlier this year. Valuable assistance is also being provided by citizens advice bureaux, law centres and other advisory agencies. The Government will consider whether the facilities for providing legal advice should be improved in the light of the recommendations of the Royal Commission on legal services whose report is expected to be published in October.
