§ Mr. McCrindleasked the Secretary of State for Trade whether he proposes to 400W make regulations regarding insurance advertisements under section 62 of the Insurance Companies Act 1974.
§ Mr. EyreI am not convinced that it is at present necessary in the interests of policy holders and potential policy holders that these regulations should be made. Most insurance advertising gives no ground for criticism, and section 63 of the Act makes it an offence to induce people to enter into contracts of insurance by advertising containing misleading, false or deceptive statements, promises or forecasts. I am informing representative bodies in the industry that so long as the industry maintains high standards of advertising I propose not to make regulations.
