HC Deb 26 July 1979 vol 971 c435W
Mr. Biggs-Davison

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland whether he will make a statement about the development of the Erne hospital in Enniskillen.

Mr. Alison

The Western Health and Social Services Board recently received the report of the working party which was set up in 1976 to consider the development of hospital services in the area. The major recommendation of the working party was that acute hospital services should be based at two centres only—Altnagelvin hospital, Londonderry and the Erne hospital, Enniskillen and that both hospitals could be expanded to provide the necessary services. When the Board has considered comments on this report, which have been requested from interested parties, it will submit its proposals to the Department of Health and Social Services for Northern Ireland.
