HL Deb 26 July 1979 vol 401 c2142WA
Lord O'HAGAN

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will make a statement about the future of Baynard's Manor, Surrey.

Lord BELLWIN

Baynards Mansion, Cranleigh, is a Grade II star building of special architectural or historic interest. Application has been made for listed building consent to demolish the building, and a public local inquiry was held in November 1978. Recently, on 18th June this year, a fire occurred in the building. Further representations were then made, which are being dealt with in accordance with the normal procedures. Subject to these procedures, my right honourable friend the Secretary of State for the Environment will announce his decision on the application as soon as possible.
