Mr. Alexander Fletcher

The information set out below has been calculated from details of Scottish local authority budgets for leisure and recreation published annually in "Rating Review" by the Scottish branch of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy.

Mr. Ernie Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) if he will publish a table in theOfficial Report showing the number of local authority playing fields in each of the four Scottish cities, the area per person in square metres and the total area in hectares;

(2) if he will list the number of local authority indoor swimming pools, excluding those in educational premises, which satisfy Scottish Sports Council standards in Dundee, Aberdeen, Glasgow and Edinburgh, and calculate a numerical deficiency for each city, assuming a standard of one pool per 30,000 population;

(3) if he will list the number of sports and leisure centres in Dundee, Aberdeen, Glasgow and Ediburgh and calculate a numerical deficiency for each city assuming a standard of provision of one centre per 80,000 of population, or part.

Mr. Alexander Fletcher

The information is not held centrally and its compilation would be at disproportionate cost.
