HC Deb 25 July 1979 vol 971 c273W
Mr. McNamara

asked the Secretary of State for Trade whether he will make a statement on the representations that he has received from the industry on the dumping of foreign-made doors from Taiwan, Indonesia and Portugal in the United Kingdom; and if he is prepared to reinforce the representation made by the British Woodworking Federation on behalf of door manufacturers to the appropriate secretariat in Brussels.

Mr. Parkinson

I have received no specific representations concerning the dumping of wooden doors from Indonesia or Portugal. However, my Department, the Department of the Environment and the British Woodworking Federation are in contact over imports of carved doors from Taiwan and I am certainly prepared to support any well-founded complaint of dumping which the federation wishes to pursue in Brussels. In the case of louvred wooden doors from Taiwan, a United Kingdom anti-dumping duty has been in operation since March 1977.
