HC Deb 25 July 1979 vol 971 c272W
Mr. Hordern

asked the Secretary of State for Trade what are the present limits on aircraft noise at Gatwick; what penalties have been imposed during the past year on aircraft exceeding these limits; and what plans there are to reduce these limits.

Mr. Tebbit

The limits at the fixed noise monitoring points at Gatwick are 110 PNdB by day and 102 PNdB by night and there are at present no plans to reduce them. Less than half of 1 per cent. of all aircraft departures exceed these limits and it has not been necessary to impose penalties for infringements.
