§ Mr. Onslowasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what official statistics are available concerning the distribution of wealth in relation to age of the population.
§ Mr. Peter Rees,pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 20 July 1979; Vol. 970, c. 870], gave the following answer:
Estimates of the distribution of personal wealth within age groups have been included in the reports of the Royal Commission on the distribution of income and wealth (report No. 1, Cmnd 6171, table 50 report No. 4, Cmnd 6626, table 27 and report No. 5, Cmnd 6999 table 32). As the Royal Commission has recognised, there are some deficiencies in these figures and it is therefore proposed to publish official estimates in due course, which will be on an improved basis.
