What is the total number of pictures held by the National Gallery and how many are on display?

The National Gallery holds just over 2,000 pictures. Their deployment varies somewhat from day to day. On 11th July there were 15 in store, 44 were on loan for display in other public buildings and the remainder were on display in the National Gallery itself.
