HC Deb 24 July 1979 vol 971 c119W
34. Mr. Norman Atkinson

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if, pursuant to the policy announced by the Prime Minister of favouring the retention of local or specialised hospitals, he will ensure that the Prince of Wales hospital, London N.17, is to retain its accident and emergency department together with its general hospital facilities.

Dr. Vaughan

Under present procedures, a proposal for permanent change of use of this hospital would be subject to formal consultation and, if opposed by the community health council would have to be referred to my right hon. Friend for a decision. No such consultation has taken place and at present the future of this hospital is not under ministerial consideration.
