HC Deb 24 July 1979 vol 971 cc170-1W
Mr. Mason

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food what would be the nutritional effect of a switch in consumption from pasteurised milk to ultra-heat treated milk and from milk with a butterfat content of 3.84 per cent. to milk with a butterfat content of 3.5 per cent.

Mr. Peter Walker

The nutritional effect of a switch in consumption from pasteurised milk to ultra-heat treated milk would be minimal, and a reduction in the butterfat content of milk from 3.84 per cent. to 3.5 per cent. would lower the average household intake of dietary fats by about 2 per cent.
