asked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster when honourable Members will be allocated office accommodation within easy reach of the House and if possible within the House.

The Services Committee's constant aim is to accommodate Members in reasonable accommodation as near to the Chamber as possible. To this end its long-term aims with regard to the development of the Bridge Street site for a new parliamentary building were published in the Committee's fifth report of 1977–78. A further report, together with Sir Hugh Casson's recommendations on the treatment of the site, is expected to be published by the end of the year.
