HC Deb 24 July 1979 vol 971 cc116-7W
28. Mr. Bulmer

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he will make a statement on the future provision of maternity services in the Wyre Forest district of Worcestershire.

Dr. Vaughan

I understand that it is intended to provide, in the early 1980s, a GP maternity unit at Kidderminster general hospital. When this has been brought into operation, the use of the Croft and Lucy Baldwin maternity hospitals is likely to be subject to change. The regional health authority is currently considering where consultant obstetric services for the district will be provided in future. Services will remain available for mothers to have babies at home.
