HC Deb 24 July 1979 vol 971 c118W
31. Mr. Freud

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the number of people in Cambridgeshire who have waited for surgery (a) for over six months and (b) for over one year.

Dr. Vaughan

The information is not available in the form requested by the hon. Member; but on 31 March 1979, the latest date for which any information is available, 774 urgent cases had been on the waiting list for admission to the surgical specialties for over one month and 1,381 non-urgent cases for over one year in the Cambridgeshire area health authority (teaching). The Cambridge health district has recently revised its definition of "urgent cases" for statistical purposes to include some cases previously classified as "non-urgent".
