§ Mr. Cantasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what response he has had from local education authorities to his Department's paper on microelectronics in education; and whether he proposes to proceed with the five-year development programme.
§ Dr. BoysonThe proposals in the consultative paper for a microelectronics development programme in schools and colleges received support in comments from local authority associations and 15 individual authorities, although some reservations were expressed on particular aspects of the suggested programme. My colleagues and I are considering the scope for such a programme in the light of public expenditure decisions and the part to be played by the education system as a whole in promoting this new technology.
