§ Mr. Alexander W. Lyonasked the Secretary of State for Employment how many training places were provided in the assisted areas as a result of the direct service training for industry in the period before charges were imposed under the Budget.
§ Mr. Jim LesterI am informed by the Manpower Services Commission that in the financial year 1977–78 its direct training services provided training for 35,873 people of whom 26,431 or 73 per cent. were employed in assisted areas. In the802W financial year 1978–79 the corresponding figures were 45,786 of whom 33,654, again 73 per cent. were from assisted areas.
