§ 41. Mr. Dudley Smithasked the Minister of Transport whether he has any proposals to improve the standards of safety achieved by lorries using the United Kingdom's roads.
§ Mr. FowlerWork is proceeding on draft regulations to require compliance with new EEC braking standards and 749W comprehensive regulations are also being prepared on carriage of dangerous goods by road. Other measures under consideration include the recommendations of the Foster committee on road haulage operators' licensing. Safety aspects of the lorry will also be among the matters considered in the independent inquiry which is to take place into lorries and their impact on the environment.
