§ Mr. Lambornasked the Minister of Transport what is the estimated cost of the southern relief road through London's dockland; and whether he is prepared to consider alternative cheaper and less destructive routes before approving the project.
§ Mr. FowlerThe estimated cost is £126 million. It is for the GLC to determine the most appropriate route for this road after consultation with the London boroughs concerned. If its costs can be contained within the GLC's overall expenditure ceiling I shall be prepared to take them into account in determining its transport supplementary grant settlement.
