HL Deb 17 July 1979 vol 401 c1413WA
Lord O'HAGAN

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they consider homoeopathy is compatible with the National Health Service; and whether they are in favour of doctors being trained in homoeopathy.

Lord CULLEN of ASHBOURNE

Homoeopathy has been practised in the National Health Service since its inception and the present Government stand by the pledges given by previous Administrations that they will ensure that facilities will continue to be made available for homoeopathic treatment while there are patients wishing to receive it and doctors willing to provide it. The Government would not wish to express a view on what should be the content of medical education; the content of post-graduate courses is for the Council for Post-graduate Medical Education and the Post-graduate Medical Deans of Universities to determine.
