HC Deb 16 July 1979 vol 970 cc362-3W
Mr. Marlow

asked the Secretary of State for Industry what action he intends to take in the light of the decline in productivity in the Post Office as set out in the answer to the hon. Member for Northampton, North on 6 July.

Mr. Michael Marshall

My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State has already made it clear that he considers there is considerable scope for improvement in the efficiency and productivity of the postal business, and is in touch with the chairman of the Post Office on these matters.

The specific measures that should be taken to effect improvements, however, are a matter for the chairman himself.
