Brownasked the Minister for the Civil Service if he will publish in the Official Report the estimated costs of transferring the staff of Manpower Services Commission from London to Sheffield, as set out by his Department in 1977; and what the actual cost now is for the work completed to date and the extrapolated figure for the final cost of the transfer based on the interim figures.
§ Mr. ChannonThe costs and savings announced in July 1977 related to the dispersal programme as a whole, and therefore I cannot give the information asked for in the first part of the question. The cost of the new Crown building at Sheffield is approximately £4 million to date.
