§ Mrs. Renée Shortasked the Secretary of State for Industry what action he is taking to help British semiconductor manufacturers increase their share of the PROM (programmable read-only-memory) component market, in the light of demand currently outstripping supply.
§ Mr. David MitchellThe Department of Industry already offers help for the manufacture of microelectronic devices in the United Kingdom. The distribution of such help between particular devices, of which the PROM is one, is mainly a matter for the industry to decide, in consultation with Government. The Department's support for microelectronics applications includes help for the application of PROMs.
